Clif – Luna – Shot Bloks – Product Review

Disclaimer: I received the Clif products to review as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!”

I’m not going to lie, being a BibRave Pro has great perks! My favorite thing is coming home to a box on my front doorstep, I love getting mail that is not bills or political ads.

One of the newest boxes to show up was full of Clif products. Which are “Kitchen crafted to be good for you and the planet”

1 box of Protein Luna Bars, Chocolate Coconut Almond

1 Box of Clif Bar Minis, which was a mix chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia nut.

1 box of Mountain Berry Shot Bloks

I couldn’t wait to try them all.

The Clif Bar Minis are the perfect size. I like them before a morning run, where you don’t want to eat a meal or prepare food, they are the perfect size and only 100. calories. Enough to power you through. They also have fun little sayings on the back of the packaging. Since I tried the first one before a run, I love eating these as a snack, they fit in your pocket.

I also discovered someone else at my house enjoying the minis – nice selfie!

Next I tried the protein bar. I have tried lots of protein bars, and my one dislike is that the texture of compressed mush turns me off. I opened the wrapper and discovered this bar was coated in chocolate, and when I took a bite there was the compressed mush, but it had substance, and it tasted like an Almond Joy. I also was eating it at 10 am to curb my mid morning hunger, thanks to the protein I made it to lunch, lol.

I still had the Shot Bloks to try. At the suggestion of Pro Heather, who received the orange flavor, we made a trade so we could try each flavor. However I have been struggling with PF and hadn’t been doing any training runs longer than 6 miles. I also had never tried them before, so I wasn’t going to try something new on my upcoming half marathon.

Then I thought..oh screw it, they look like gummi ice cubes, so I popped a mountain berry after work, before supper and before a 3 mile evening run. It was just what I needed to power me through those 3 miles and ward off the hunger before supper. They also don’t have that weird sweetener after taste. I came home and tried the orange, just as tasty. I do like to fuel my runs with gummi candy, these are very similar but not as goey or chewy, a little more solid. They also have 25 mg of caffeine, which gummi bears lack.

Everything I had the opportunity to try was good, so I went to the website to learn more about Clif. Here are a few things that caught my eye:

All the opinions are my own, even though I have received these at no cost. I really like the minis and would buy more. I have also tried the Clif Mojo bars, which I grab from time to time to curb my sweet and salty craving.
