It’s been a while since I actually wrote just a simple blog update.
I am in the midst of training for The North Face Endurance Challenge 50k at Kettle Moraine State Park, WI. This race will be redemption! I already know what to expect and the course is a little less intense. There is still time to join the fun, 50 miler, marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k; and you can save 15% with code BIBRAVE15. Also the Hawkeyes are playing the Badgers in nearby Madison that day.
During this training cycle, I have picked up races as part of my miles. My next big challenge will come Aug 22 – 23. I am running the Madison Mini (13.1) for the third year in a row!!! (Discount link) After I enjoy my post race beer on the terrace, Josh, Laura and I will pile into the car for the Backpocket 7 miler that afternoon, also my third year. If that wasn’t enough, I am going to join the Bibrave Pro party in Chicago and run the Fort 2 Base 10 nautical mile race the next day. (Discount link) So yeah that will be one weekend of racing.
Also most people are training for their fall marathon… I should note, I have one of those too, Chicago. Yep I am running the NFEC 50k and then next weekend Chicago. That is how I will start October, then after a 2 week break I will be on the road to Louisville to run the Urban Bourbon half marathon. I have a discount for that too!
But wait there’s more! Nov 8th I am running for chocolate, the Hot Chocolate 15k in Chicago, so I hope to see some of you there! (discount link) Might have to get some Garrett’s Popcorn!
Things I am loving this training cycle:
- bite size nutter butters
- my Plantronics wireless headphones, I love reading, but too busy to actually hold a book, so audiobooks make the long run go faster
- CW-X compression pants – ah recovery
- the heat, I feel more like a badass
- my Adidas 7″ boy shorts
- watermelon
- trail running
Things I am hating this training cycle
- the heat, waking up super early to avoid
- fuel belt, hand held…I hate having so many things attached to me
- chafing – nuff said
- weird flare ups of tendonitis
- My Garmin – will it last for a 50k, it beeps on the charger, it hates the rain
- random hunger
Well that’s it, I am not signed up for a race until August, but that will change, I get a little “testy.” Plus throwing in a 5k here or there is a great speed work when training for an endurance event.
When I am not off running a gazillion miles, I also work, and participate in 2 farmer’s markets. I really don’t know how people are bored. I struggle to find enough time in the day to get it all done.
I will have more product reviews coming soon as well. Those are always fun, well I think I like the photo shoots that come with them.
Have a great Monday, enjoy the week!
I’m contemplating the F2B race, not sure if the husband will be up for driving to IL after being in Madison the day before! We should do a BibRave something after the mini for sure! 🙂
well I am doing both, don’t want to hear any excuses, lol!!! I am not sure how much post race time I’ll have need to be at IC race at 5pm
Good luck with all of your training! I look forward to future posts! I’m running Chicago too 🙂
Good Luck at Chicago!
Sounds like an awesome event that you are training for! I’m also loving watermelon and trail running this summer. I need to find me some bite sized nutter butter bars. Sounds delightful.
